ASTEC Funded Interactive Seminar on IPR Awareness & Career Guidance

An interactive seminar on IPR Awareness and Career Guidance was successfully conducted on 27th February 2025 at Chandra Nath Bezbaruah College, Bokakhat. The event was organised by the IPR Cell of The Assam Kaziranga University, Jorhat, in collaboration with Chandra Nath Bezbaruah College, Bokakhat, and was funded by ASTEC (Assam Science Technology and Environment Council).

The seminar commenced with a welcome speech delivered by Dr. Surajit Dutta, Principal, CNB College, Bokakhat, who warmly greeted the esteemed resource persons, faculty members, and students present at the event. The programme was anchored by Dr. Dimple Jyoti Mahanta, Associate Professor and HoD, Dept of Mathematics, and Coordinator of IQAC, The Assam Kaziranga University.

Sessions and Resource Persons

The seminar was divided into two key sessions:

  1. Career Guidance
    • The session on career guidance was conducted by Dr. Prasanta Jyoti Gautam, Associate Professor and HoD, Dept of Chemistry, The Assam Kaziranga University, and Dr. Pankaj Borah, Assistant Professor, Dept of Physics, The Assam Kaziranga University.
    • They provided valuable insights into various career prospects in science and technology, higher education opportunities, and skill development strategies essential for students.
  2. IPR Awareness
    • The talk on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was delivered by Dr. Lipika Khatoniar, Assistant Professor and HoD, Dept of Biotechnology, The Assam Kaziranga University.
    • She highlighted the significance of IPR in academia, research, and entrepreneurship, emphasizing the importance of patenting innovations and protecting intellectual property in today’s competitive world.

The seminar witnessed active participation from around 100 students of CNB College, along with faculty members and students from The Assam Kaziranga University, including Phalguni Baruah and Kabita Chetry. The interactive nature of the seminar allowed students to engage in meaningful discussions and clarify their doubts regarding career opportunities and intellectual property rights.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Dilip Borah, Coordinator, IQAC, expressing gratitude to the resource persons, organizers, and participants for their contributions in making the seminar a success.

Overall, the seminar was a highly enriching and informative event, benefitting students and faculty members alike by broadening their understanding of career opportunities and intellectual property rights.
