Celebration of World Water Day
World Water Day was celebrated by the department of Chemistry, CNB College, Bokakhat at Rajabari Higher Secondary School on 22nd March 2024. As groundwater of Rajabari-Kuruabahi area is affected by arsenic, so on the occasion of this day, the department of Chemistry was organized an awareness program on “Effect of Arsenic Contaminated Water on Human Health”. The program was inaugurated by Mrs Parul Devi, Principal of Rajabari Higher Secondary School. In this program, Dr Champa Gogoi, Assistant professor , Department of Chemistry of CNB College, Bokakhat explained the causes of water pollution, scenario of groundwater of Assam as well as Golaghat district with reference to fluoride and arsenic contamination. She also discussed about the adverse health effect of arsenic contaminated water in her presentation and gave advice to take healthy food. Dr Gogoi said that arsenic can be removed by sand filtration; but the disposal of the sand after adsorption of arsenic is not so easy. Thus it is good for use pretreated water from Jal Jeevan Mission. In this program, Dr Arun Bora, President, SMC of this School, Mr Nirmal Kurmi and other Assistant teachers, students of this school and many local people of the village were also present.
